Heart Failure Management

Comprehensive care for patients living with heart failure — from early diagnosis and optimal medication to advanced therapies and long-term support. Our goal is to help you live better, longer, and stronger.

Understanding Heart Failure

Heart failure occurs when the heart muscle is unable to pump blood effectively, leading to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, or swelling in the legs and feet.

While it is a chronic condition, advances in modern cardiology mean that early detection and proper management can greatly improve outcomes and quality of life.

Our Heart Failure Services

Accurate Diagnosis of Heart Failure

Precise diagnosis is the foundation of effective treatment. We perform detailed assessments including physical examination, imaging, and cardiac function testing to determine the type and severity of heart failure.

Measurement of NT-proBNP

A blood test that measures levels of N-Terminal Pro-Type B Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP) — a marker that helps confirm the presence and severity of heart failure, and monitor treatment response over time.

Optimal Medical Therapy (OMT)

We personalise medication plans using evidence-based therapies proven to improve heart function, reduce symptoms, and enhance survival — including ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, and SGLT2 inhibitors.

Home Inotropic Therapy

For patients with advanced heart failure, continuous inotropic infusions can be administered safely at home under specialist supervision to maintain cardiac output and quality of life.

Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT)

A specialised pacing device that coordinates the contractions of the heart’s ventricles, improving efficiency and reducing symptoms in suitable patients with heart failure and conduction delay.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)

A small, implantable device that detects and corrects dangerous heart rhythms, significantly reducing the risk of sudden cardiac arrest in patients with weakened heart function.

Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD)

A mechanical pump that helps the left ventricle circulate blood throughout the body. Used as a bridge to transplant or as destination therapy in advanced heart failure patients.

Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT)

A simple, non-invasive test to measure exercise capacity and functional status. It helps track disease progression and the effectiveness of treatment over time.

Right Heart Catheterisation

An advanced diagnostic procedure that measures pressures within the heart and lungs, guiding treatment decisions in complex or advanced cases of heart failure.
